Goat Milk is the Natural Choice!

I am now teaching the goat operations class 102 for Farm to Consumer Foundation.

Join us for a four-part series - over the phone, from the convenience of your home.

For farmers at all levels of cow/goat share experience and consumers who want to learn more about the topic.

Classes are in April, June and June 2012

Dairy Herd:

Our dairy herd consists of Nubian, Alpine, LaMancha and Saanan goats.  We have started collecting the best genetics for milk and show in Colorado and Wyoming.

We currently have South Fork, Colorado Caprine, Mega Milkers, Goldthwaite, Nashama, Harmody and more bloodlines.

The Nubians are well known for their long floppy ears, Alpines are very graceful and have erect ears, LaManchas are the "earless" goats and the Saanans are well known for their awesome milk production.

Alpines remind me by their appearance that goats are related to the deer family.

All of our animals are tested for TB, Brucellosis, CAE and parasites on a regular basis.

They range in age from this years kids to seven years old.  A well cared for dairy goat will produce milk anywhere from 7-10 years on average.

They are curious and gentle by nature which makes them perfect as a dairy animal.

They are friendly and remind me a lot of dogs, as they will follow you around and want to be wherever you are.

Boer Herd:

We purchased our first Boer buck last year and couldn't wait to see what he would do with our spotted and colored dairy girls.

We were so excited when his first kids hit the ground this year and so impressed with what he is doing with our dairy girls that we have expanded into colored, paint and spotted Boer goats.

We now own commercial, percentage and purebred spotted does along with a purebred red, a purebred spotted, and a fullblood paint buck.

We vaccinate for CL and keep our herds completely separate from each other.
